Guy time. Guy food. This is a great time of fellowship, physical food and spiritual food (usually) on the first Saturday of the month. However, if a holiday falls on a Saturday, we will meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month. We meet in the Church Parlor from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. No materials to buy. Just come and be enriched by this event. It all points to how our lives can bring greater glory to Jesus.

On Sunday’s at 9:00 am we gather in the sanctuary for an informal, more conversational service, meeting with God and with one another, hearing the Word preached and receiving Communion. Our Second Service is traditional – “classic.” We use traditional music, light liturgy, with emphasis on the preaching of the Word. Usually celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of the month. On Monday nights our doors are open to the community to serve a free hot meal to any who may be in need.  In Mount Vernon, different churches take turns serving a  free meal to the community. 

Every Tuesday men are invited during their lunch hour to come and focus on what is important – their walk with Jesus Christ.  This is a free flow discussion on how the Bible and our lives intersect.  No materials other than a Bible is necessary.  We have plenty on hand if you come without a copy of the Bible. This study meets on Tuesdays at 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Church Kitchen.

First Presbyterian Church sponsor BSA Troop 339 for boys. Scouting has been a part of our church’s ministry since 1938. Troop 339 has produced over 100 Eagle Scouts.

First Presbyterian Church sponsors BSA Troop 338 for girls. Scouting has been a part of our church’s ministry since 1938. Troop 338 is relatively new now that the BSA has opened up to the participation of young women.

Cub Scout Pack #339 meets on Tuesday nights at the church from 7 PM to 8 PM (… call the church for more details).

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION Once a month Women meet together on the second Wednesday of the month from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. to focus in on a study that women across the Presbyterian Church are growing in and growing from.  This year the Women’s Association is focusing the Horizon Bible Study Series “Sacred Encounters”

The Presbyterian Church is organized around a board of church elders. When the elders meet, the meeting is known as a SESSION MEETING (from a Scottish term; i.e., “the elders are in session.”) Elders are lay people elected from the congregation by the congregation to assist the pastor in his or her work, forming a ministry team that exercises oversite and coordination of the workings of the church.
