Our Second Service is traditional – “classic.” We use traditional music, light liturgy, with emphasis on the preaching of the Word. Usually celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of the month. On Monday nights our doors are open to the community to serve a free hot meal to any who may be in need.  In Mount Vernon, different churches take turns serving a  free meal to the community. 

Every Tuesday men are invited during their lunch hour to come and focus on what is important – their walk with Jesus Christ.  This is a free flow discussion on how the Bible and our lives intersect.  No materials other than a Bible is necessary.  We have plenty on hand if you come without a copy of the Bible. This study meets on Tuesdays at 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Church Kitchen.

First Presbyterian Church sponsor BSA Troop 339 for boys. Scouting has been a part of our church’s ministry since 1938. Troop 339 has produced over 100 Eagle Scouts.

First Presbyterian Church sponsors BSA Troop 338 for girls. Scouting has been a part of our church’s ministry since 1938. Troop 338 is relatively new now that the BSA has opened up to the participation of young women.

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION Once a month Women meet together on the second Wednesday of the month from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. to focus in on a study that women across the Presbyterian Church are growing in and growing from.  This year the Women’s Association is focusing the Horizon Bible Study Series “Sacred Encounters”

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY Every Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. women meet to focus in the Bible through guided study and focused discussion.  Currently, the study is on HEAVEN: FINDING OUR TRUE HOME, by Douglas Connelly (A LifeGuide Bible Study by InterVarsity Press).  We see, hear, and read various descriptions of heaven, but what does the Bible actually say about our eternity?
