Welcome to our New Website

Welcome to our New Website

All during our COVID-19 period (April 2020 to November 2020) we have been working below the radar on a completely new website. Now we can roll it out and make it our new online welcome room for you and with you in mind.

I want to thank two key people in this process: Carrie Crouch Haver and Tom Van Voorhis.

Starting with Tom first: Tom was taking care of the website when I arrived in March 2019. He was faithful to do some updates to the information and to make sure that a video of our services was available to any who logged on and who would be interested in what we have to offer in worship.

During 2019 Tom, Carrie, and I met to discuss a new way forward for our online presence. That is where Carrie comes in.

Carrie is Marketing Manager for the Mount Vernon Arts Consortium and Owner/Designer at Black Cat Creative. She is former Director of Communications at Mount Vernon Nazarene University and also with the Ohio Chiropractic Association. She studied Graphic Communication at The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology for her Master’s Degree. Website design is a part of what she does, and she has been gracious to help us out on this project. She is of tremendous talent and knowledge, and this website reflects that.

Our website is not just a communication piece. There is a theology – a “theo-logic” – to this as well.

Our God is a speaking, communicating God. He desires to communicate in meaningful ways to His people and to the world. God speaks through visuals: blazing rainbow, burning bush, soaring temple and through the still, small voice. In the 21st century visual communication is very important: pictures, screen icons, and videos. And the church can speak through these forms that connect to the culture around us.

Our aim is to utilize more and more the tools at our disposal to advance the cause of Christ through web and social media. This is the new community space for the exchange of ideas and personal engagement. First Presbyterian Church takes our place in this cultural environment to witness to the God who comes to us in Jesus Christ, advancing His call and claim on all of life.

We hope you will enjoy exploring our site, engage with us, and come to see and experience our life together in Jesus Christ.
