Men's Saturday Breakfast Fellowship – MARCH 27, 2010

All men and their guests are welcome and encouraged to attend this time of fellowship and enjoy a hearty breakfast!  This month George Stone will present the first of a two part series: “Worship – Seekers Drawn Into the Honoring of God”.  Video from the Purpose-Driven Presbyterian Network will be used to stimulate discussion on how we can be more effective in fulfilling “The Great Commission” Matthew 28:19-20 while we perform one of the ”Great Ends” of the Presbyterian Church, “The maintenance of divine worship”.

INTERCHURCH-At the January Interchurch Board Meeting, the following pantry needs for Mt. Vernon were listed: Shampoo, dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, toothbrushes, toothpaste. Clothing needs, currently there is a real need for coats and boots, especially for children. Books: Bibles were requested to be available to clients who request them.

Volunteers are needed to provide baked goods for the fellowship table for some of the remaining Sundays during the summer. There is a sign-up sheet on the refreshment table in Fellowship Hall. Thank you to those who have already volunteered to supply a treat. Your generosity is very much appreciated! We will be organizing the September to June schedule soon for host/hostesses and bakers for the 8:30 AM Service and the 11:00 AM Service. Please see Carole Conway if you would be willing to help on a rotation or occasional basis in this important fellowship ministry.

Older Adult Ministry Liaison Opportunity The Presbytery is looking for an adult ministry liaison to share information with about events, articles, books, etc., that perhaps will help the church in this vital ministry. Such a person could also assist by pointing out the church's needs and sharing educational, spiritual, and fellowship programs and activities that are being held at the church. If you are interested, please contact the church office at 393-1326.

Nametags please keep them on. Our church nametags are an important tool in helping members and especially visitors get to know us and feel welcome. Please wear your nametag during fellowship time before and after worship.

Nursery Volunteers needed! If you would like to volunteer to work in the Nursery on a Sunday morning, please contact the church office at 393-1326.

Prayer Ministries

James 5:16b

"The prayer of a righteous person has great power in its effects."

D o you have a desire to draw closer to God? Do you feel disconnected? Have you been seeking a way to serve? There are currently three opportunities here at FPC to do all of these things.

Prayer Chain - There is room for you on our church's prayer chain. The prayer chain uses a phone tree and prays for acute needs that are brought to our attention.

Pastoral Prayer Partners - Believing the words of the Apostle James from above, I believe that it is imperative that we pray together earnestly for the ministry of this church. God has great plans for this church and its ministry; however, without prayer these plans could be thwarted. If you are passionate about prayer, this is an opportunity not to be taken lightly. Please contact Deb Paxton for more information.

Please consider whether God is calling you to participate in any of these ministries. These prayer ministries are and will be an increasingly vital part of the ongoing life and health of this congregation and its ministry.
