CHURCH FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE

2008

The Church Fellowship Committee organized several major events during 2008 to promote Christian Fellowship among our members.  First Friday Family Fun Nights were held during the winter months.  Pot Lucks and receptions were organized.  Our traditional FUNCERT

entertainment and potluck was in April.  First Presbyterian Church welcomed COBA bikers on June 17 as we opened our Fellowship Hall as a local restaurant option with casseroles, salads, and desserts made by church members.  A July 20th church picnic/swim took place at Apple Valley.

Congregational breakfasts between the Sunday morning services, under the expert direction of Penny Sajkowsky, Cynthia Bevington and a team of faithful volunteers took place on a quarterly basis.

The Fellowship Committee implemented a year-long schedule of volunteers, coordinated by Carole Conway, to serve as coffee hosts to provide refreshments during the fellowship time for the 8:30 AM and the 11:00 AM Worship Services.  We thank the many volunteers who have helped in this fellowship outreach.

The most memorable event of 2008 was the 200th Anniversary Celebration dinner, serving over 200 people, on August 30.  A combined effort of scores of volunteers made this large undertaking a huge success.  Members and guests were welcomed the following morning at a reception after worship in fellowship hall.  Food for the weekend was coordinated by Cynthia Bevington and Penny Sajkowsky with thanks to many cooks, servers, and behind the scenes coordinators.  A special thank you goes to Melanie Bolender, the 200th Celebration Committee chair, who helped coordinate this historic event.

The final activity of the year was the ‘Hanging of the Greens’ to decorate the sanctuary and church for Christmas.  A large number of participants enjoyed lunch after Sunday morning worship, then put their decorating skills to work to prepare for the Christmas season.
